Angular Cheilitis Robbed Me Of Kissing
72Angular Cheilitis Wrecks Lives
Chelitis also spelled Angular Cheilitis and also called Angular Cheilosis is more commonly called split mouth corners or mouth corner sores. It is a persistent fungal bacterial infection characterized by angry-looking redness and crusty sores at the corners of the lips.
The lip lesions or ulcers appear as red nasty-looking deep splits in the corners of the lips and mouth. Flare-ups can last weeks, months or maybe years. The ulcers, splits, or cracks in the corners of the mouth momentarily seal over only to be re-opened by eating, drinking, laughing, chatting, yawning or heaven forbid kissing.
The poor hapless victim's whole personality begins to change as social interaction becomes increasingly more uncomfortable. He avoids any activity that would bring him into contact with others and he or she routinely turns down activities and interactions with the opposite sex. Kissing or being kissed is an activity that he doesn't even dream of anymore.
The affliction really never lets up, and it is known to damage virtually every area of the victim's life. As a matter of fact, the painful and humiliating condition literally takes over its victim's life.
Severe Angular Cheilitis
Angular Cheilitis Is A Visual Handicap
Sadly, while most illnesses can be covered up by your clothes or occur within the body, these humiliating, nauseating, red, raw, crusty splits are right on the lips, right on the face, right where everyone in the world can see them.
Angular Cheilitis is rightly described as a visible HANDICAP! The victim begins to see himself as the two large red, repulsive, crusty, and sometimes even bleeding mouth corner ulcers. He absolutely dreads leaving the sanctuary of his home because he imagines that everyone is looking at him, and most of the time he is right, they aren't just looking at him, they are gawking at him, and whispering behind his back.
While the affliction is not contagious, to the uneducated it definitely looks like it may be. Nobody wants to kiss someone with Angular Cheilitis. People say that he lacks personal hygiene, that he drools, that he has herpes, or that he has advanced Aids or Syphilis.
Thankfully, there is a natural, yet straightforward treatment for Angular Cheilitis that kills the bacteria responsible for the persistent infection by isolating the bacteria in a waterless environment. The fungal bacteria that causes cracked mouth corners has to have a moist environment in which to grow.

It's amazing how many afflictions we suffer that are unknown to the vast majority of mankind. I've never heard of the condition, but I've seen the sores before. So thanks ever so much for the information. Very well written hub.
I've suffered from this for years thinking it was herpes and it's nearly brought me to tears when I look in the mirror. I feel the way you describe it here.
I have had cracks in the corners of my mouth for years. Not severe, and what I would do is put first aid cream on the cracks and they would go away. HOWever about 4 years ago, I got the cracks etc By etc, I mean burning of the lips, especially after eating something salty, spicy etc., redness where I looked like Bozo the clown. I went to doctors, I was allergic to my toothpaste, NOT and then I took allergy shots. Creams that the doctors prescribed always helped for a very little while. I do take Vit B2 and a B12 complex. About 4 weeks ago, I discovered Coconut oil, and it has helped better than anything I have ever tried. I take 2 tablets a day which I will increase and I put the oil on my lips 2 or 3 times a day. I have had couple very minor out breaks of the cracks and that is all. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I realize my 4 years i nothing compared to what come of your members or guests have had.
